The Board of Australia’s peak trucking industry body, the Australian Trucking Association, is meeting in Alice Springs today to get a different view of the industry and help celebrate the 15th anniversary of the Australian Road Transport Hall of Fame.
The Board will use the opportunity to get the views of a wide cross-section of the trucking industry.
“The Australian trucking industry is one of the most diverse in the world. The industry’s task in Sydney or Melbourne is vastly different to its role in outback Australia or the west,” ATA Chairman David Simon said.
“Outback Australia relies on the trucking industry to deliver the goods it needs every day, and the unique experiences of operators and drivers in the outback are a world away from how the industry operates in the eastern states.
“As the peak body representing trucking, it’s important we understand the issues facing every sector of the industry.
“When the opportunity to hold a Board of Management meeting in conjunction with the 15th anniversary reunion of the Road Transport Hall of Fame in Alice Springs came up, the Board decided it was a great opportunity to speak with the thousands of operators who attend.
“The Road Transport Hall of Fame is an iconic part of the Australian trucking industry and charts the massive impact the industry has on the development of outback Australia and Alice Springs.
